I Declare

Too many people these days are feeling powerless. That is because of what we see happening in the larger world. It makes us want to shrink and shrink and shrink, until we are mere specks on this gorgeous canvas we call Mother Earth.

We are not specks, we are human beings, the envy of the entire universe for our potential. The potential of our hearts to find power through oneness and compassion.

I declare: No more shrinking! Expand!

Let your “freak flag fly”, as we used to say in the old days, the days when we were so joyful over simple possibilities. When we allowed ourselves to be nurtured by our own creative imagination – another quality we humans are envied over. And here is the secret part: the more we expand, the less we obstruct one another.

If you need proof of that, think back to the Covid Era. Not the fear. Not the isolation. Not the confinement. Think of the creative responses we came up with to sustain ourselves. That was the real vaccine. Like the family that walked down the street in front of their neighbor’s house, and when they saw their neighbor staring out the big picture window, broke out into a spontaneous dance of freedom and joy. That was a truly transcendent act! It was masterful. That’s what we are capable of as humans, and the entire Universe knows it. Even if only a small minority of us sees the true potential in ourselves.

It is time to break that monotonous loop of self-constraining thoughts and allow ourselves to dream again. Not as an escape from the present state of things, but as an act of human will. Here is my favorite example of what we are capable of: for almost a year now millions of people have taken to the streets, not IN anger but with anger, while wearing whimsical costumes. The frogs and chickens and unicorns, if I recall correctly. I believe the press referred to it as “tactical humor” because it was intentional, strategic, and fun.

It is time to declare what we are willing to nurture on this planet we share.

As the folk singer Ferron used to say, “Once we were victims, then we became warriors. Now, we are gardeners!”

Don’t allow anyone to convince you otherwise.

I declare.

Covid Era was some of my best times. I was opening up the Blu Dragon, and as the construction workers came, I would stand out in the parking lot and great them with huge hugs. Yes, you are correct, Cassandra, the other business owners would stare out of their suites and point fingers. I learned a lot of amazing things during that time and one was how much touch was needed. One of the delivery men even said, "thanks I really needed that." How crazy were we then? Light and Love, Pat

Do you still have the Blu Dragon? I would love to visit it sometime, maybe after the September gathering?

Great feedback - thanks!
